If you are in recovery, or would like to be in recovery, from drug and alcohol problems its great to be part of a community of people who understand you and have a shared experience. Spending time with others who have been though similar issues and learned how to deal with them makes a difference.
We are very fortunate in Edinburgh to have a thriving recovery community with various ways to connect with it including:
- Recovery Hubs in local areas of the city who offer individual support and groups.
- Mutual aid support groups and fellowships which are available both online and in-person.
- Attend social activities, events and groups with ERA or pop along to their recovery café and meet people.
- Download the ARC app, a recovery companion that will keep you up to date with all thing’s recovery based going on in the city.
The recovery community is made up of people from all walks of life who all have experience of alcohol and drug problems. You may need to try more than one group to find people whose attitudes and understanding are helpful for you.
Whichever way you make contact you will find welcoming, friendly and supportive people who really care about helping you to recover.
