The Sorted Project works across Edinburgh and Lothian supporting people over the age of 18 and in recovery from substance (drugs/alcohol) dependency and associated mental health issues. Most of our clients are unemployed and their issues are a major barrier to mainstream employability and employment. We work in partnership with a range of established voluntary and statutory organisations to provide support in moving closer to mainstream employability agencies. Referrals come from addiction treatment agencies, mental health agencies, social work, NHS and client/peer recommendations. Sorted provides group and one to one personal development, confidence building and meaningful training and volunteering opportunities. Meetings can be held acros the city to suit the participants. Sorted delivers group work with organisations such as the South East Recovery Hub, Castle Project and CHAI. Sorted provides a unique recovery based canal boat project which is a safe and positive environment where referred participants can train and volunteer in all aspects of canal boating including the Helmsman Certificate, First Aid Certificate, Hospitality, and Food Hygiene. It provides a safe and welcoming space, great atmosphere, peer support and the added beneftis of the calming and beneficial canal and countryside location.
