The Edinburgh Integrated Pregnancy and Parenting Support Service (PrePare) was established in July 2006 and provides a multi-agency service for pregnant woman with problem substance misuse.
PrePare works closely with the women during their pregnancy, monitoring their health as well as that of their baby. The team look at the domestic set up and lifestyle and check access to drug programmes and alcohol detox facilities.
The team comprises a co-ordinator, midwife, health visitor, addictions nurse and nursery officers. They work on a city-wide basis, offering outreach work wherever is most suitable for the client.
The service runs Monday to Friday 8.00am to 4.00pm.
